The Associate of Applied Science degree in Veterinary Technology is designed to train Veterinary Technicians to assist Veterinarians in animal hospitals, laboratory research centers, referral centers, zoos, etc. Demonstrate ability to safely and effectively manage veterinary medications, radiographic images, anesthesia and surgical interventions, laboratory diagnostic procedures, and animal monitoring and restraint.Apply effective skills in the areas of communication, critical thinking and problem-solving in the practice of Veterinary Technology.Demonstrate ability to provide high quality entry-level veterinary technology services (under the required supervision of a veterinarian), in consumer and patient-care environments.Incorporate values and attitudes congruent with the profession's core values and code of ethics through the pursuit of lifelong learning.If you do not want to receive the embedded certificate(s), please notify Registration and Student Records at Outcomes This degree program contains one or more embedded certificates which will be automatically awarded when the certificate requirements are completed. Any student under age 18 must contact the program director/department chair to discuss whether he or she may enroll. Note: For students under age 18 there are restrictions on participating in certain Clinical Activities. A graduate from this program will be eligible to sit for the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE.) Those graduates who pass this exam with a score of 75% or better will be eligible to register with the Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board in order to practice within the State of Ohio. Most open enrollment courses must be taken prior to entry into the limited enrollment courses.
